Gratuitous Junk! Woohoo!, John McCain2 August 2008 5:52 pm

The GOP must be getting desperate if they have gotten down to my relatively unimportant name on their mailing list. And as a result, I received a rather bland photo of Senator and Mrs. McCain which I have taken the liberty of making a remark on, and have sent back to the kind folks who first put it into the mail to me:

In case my scrawl is impossibly illegible, it reads:

“Thanks, but no thanks. No McSame.

I’m voting for the Constitution.
I’m voting for Dr. Chuck Baldwin.”

That, and along with some creatively artistic flourishes with a Sharpie pen, I added some distinguishing facial hair to Sen. McCain’s ever so gentle visage. (I was tempted to add the same flourish to Mrs. McCain, but she is something of an innocent bystander, or at least, an accessory - who really doesn’t need any uglification. That would simply be ungentlemanly of me to do such a thing.

I did wonder why I received any mailings from McCain… I never got anything from Bush in 2000 or 2004. Despite the fact that I rarely if ever donate anything to any political candidate (I donated some to Fred Thompson’s ill-fated primary campaign, and that has somewhat soured me on making any further contributions to anyone else - given my poor track record at backing political winners).

I also donated a token sum to my local candidate to Congress, Kieran Lalor (NY-19) on the hopes that he can unseat first-term incumbent John Hall, whose victory in an otherwise Republican, conservative Catholic majority district was something of a protest against the former Sue Kelly’s ineptitude in her final term.

I think that might have bumped me up a few notches on the mailing list.

I have been rather opposed to McCain being the nominee — I would have rather have seen Dr. Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter… or even Mitt Romney as POTUS before McCain. In fact, this wholesale unravelling of the GOP has lead to my embracing of the Constitutionalist movement, and finding my home in Paleoconservatism.

Or to paraphrased a much abused idiom - I did not leave the GOP, the GOP moved left and left me.

Liberal Media Bias, John McCain, Barrack Hussein Obama14 February 2008 4:11 pm

So, it looks like the MSM will be happy, as we edge nearer to an Obama-McCain contest:

Both frontrunners have waylaid the Potomac River / Chesapeake Bay corridor states with Hillary and Huckabee being dealt crushing defeats.

I have to wonder how much of it can be attributed to our overzealous media combined with general sheep-like behaviour amongst the party faithful (of the GOP for McCain) or of genuine “Anybody but the Clintons” amongst the Democrats.

I mean, let us took a look at this (commented) screencap from CNN’s “election center” web site:

CNN early results - 12 Feb 08

C’mon CNN… give us a small break, will ye? Calling an election at THREE percent of the polling districts in? It makes me wonder if y’all are really trying to orchestrate people’s minds to vote for McCain (who may prove not to be the paper tiger who is so easily swatted down - time will tell).

Of course, this is CNN - where they have the best election coverage in the nation. You know, the news network with stars like Anderson Cooper who refers to the Confederate Naval Ensign (one of the more common forms of the Confederate Flag seen) as the “Stars and Bars” (about 0:22 on the playhead)

Fox News fares not a stitch better with its continued fawning over the Republican “Kwisatz Haderach” John McCain… who lacks those nifty giant 300′ long worms to ride around into the Capitol to raise a ruction. in fact, I really see nothing that McCain offers aside from his putative interest in keeping the troops fielded and funded.

And then there is Obama - Another factor is Obama’s oratory, which according to Tom Sullivan could be compared to not entirely dissimilar style of oration used by a certain evil Austrian ex-corporal some 70 years ago.

For the record, it probably is politically incorrect (and certain violates Godwin’s Law) to compare Mr. Obama to the likes of a disgraced Austrian ex-corporal. I mean, it’s not like there are roving packs of jackbooted thugs beating up Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who don’t quite see Mr. Obama as the Second Coming.

I figure sticking to his connections to Islam will be sufficient fodder for the ad-hominem slander machinery (formerly known as the Rove-a-Matic) which will see loads of action as we gear up for the post-primary season.

In the News!, US Election 2008, John McCain11 February 2008 7:09 pm

… from President Bush, commenting on conservative animosity toward presumptive Republican nominee John McCain:

There’s probably some personal animosity toward me. You can’t please all the people all the time…” Bush said.

in a statement found in today’s LA Times online.

In the rest of the article, President Bush pledged to assist Sen. McCain’s campaign, should he get the nomination. President Bush also noted that McCain has some “work to do” to convince conservative Republicans to get behind him.

Indeed, “Dubya” is a true master of understatement.

a vote for McCain.

Say NO to McCain - Huckabee!

If you value pro-life, Christian values, and a GOP presidential with an actual chance to beat Hillary or obama… Do NOT vote for Huckabee - McCain.

Vote for Mitt Romney.

John McCain is NOT a conservative.

US Election 2008, Enemies of the US Constitution, John McCain31 January 2008 2:28 pm

I’m going to file Sen. John McCain - War Hero, valourous and decorated former POW, so-called “maverick” GOP politician who has often bucked the will of the party and especially its conservative base, and now perfidious perpetrator of such practices as the last minute robo-calls in Florida and a decided distaste - bordering on hatred - of the Constitution and particularly the Bill of Rights. And perhaps even the normal, everyday citizens of these United States too - to whom he has ridden a broken and twisted rail with on his “Straight Talk Express”.

Senator McCain, I am calling you out as an enemy of the Constitution of the United States, and insist that you step down from your candidacy for the GOP nomination and disband your campaign for the Presidency.

You have stabbed your fellow party members in the back repeatedly by crossing party lines to support the free-speech limiting McCain-Feingold legislation, you’ve called for an unlimited and unrestricted path to citizenship for *millions* of unlawful migrants, many of whom are gangsters, criminals, drug traffickers, and subversive Mexican partisans who wish to overthrow both federal and regional governments to shatter the Republic and form some new “Aztlan” nation, and you’ve incurred the ire of American gun owners with your continued assaults on the Second Amendment.

How can we ever trust you not to continue to do as you wish, and not as the American People wish?

How can we ever trust you again in the halls of government, when you continually oppose what is right, when you clamp down on free speech, grab peoples’ guns, oscillate in your support of the federally-mandated right to murder innocent pre-partum babies, and wish to open up our border to any person - be they honest hard-working hopeful citizen who might contribute to our American society, or a vile, treacherous criminal or terrorist - to come into our nation and take us for a prey?

Or would you steer the helm of this Republic with your admitted ignorance of how to guide the economy back to a position of growth, a thing of envy in the world and not ridicule? Indeed, you are so quick to beat the drums of war ever harder and call for the bombing of other nations when our budget is already stretched to its breaking point.

Or would you call your support to work with the George Soros acolytes who would hamstring our economy with all sorts of restrictions and regulations about “carbon emissions” for a yet debated and undetermined cause for the supposed phenomenon of global warming - while continuing to block our ability to harvest our own resources (ANWR, offshore oil) only to let Red China and other enemies of our nation drain them away from a distance?

Please… for the love of this nation, whatever part of you that remains a patriot - I call upon you to cease from ruining this Republic with your socialist ideas, your subversive support of the Democrat’s platform, and withdraw from the presidential election.

I’d sooner see a real Republican and conservative in the office before you, and I may very well face the choice of having to choose between you, Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton - and choosing not to pull the lever at all.

Please, do not make me face that nightmare.
