h/t to Dan Riehl and Moxie.nu for the original links…

The Centre for American Progress has a new quiz up to measure how progressive (read: liberal) or conservative you just might be. It scales 40 questions from 0 (vehement disagreement) to 10 (profound agreement) with more than a few “loaded” questions, and one or two that made completely no sense.*

I scored 97/400, with the median at that time of respondents falling near the middle at 209.5% at the time I took the quiz.

Progressive Quiz

Apparently I’m an ultraconservative, though I did answer a number of questions targeted toward a neo-conservative view (particular those touching on military adventurism/interventionism) with a paleo-conservative non-interventionist attitude.

*For me, one was “Healthy economic growth requires eliminating budget deficits (true) which discourages private investments and raises interest rates.” (Huh?)Unless of course, your idea of “eliminating budget deficits” is exactly that of raising taxes and debasing the currency even further….

Aaaaaand, the culture war rages on.

Think what you like about “gay marriage”… what we see unfolding now is no longer an issue of whether or not LGBT folk can marry one another. (For the record, I believe that government should have no say in who marries whom, other than to record the fact of the marriage)

It is in fact, a constitutional crisis, both for California, and potentially for the US Constitution, should the California Supreme Court choose to override a public referendum - setting itself up as the penultimate authority OVER the state constitution from which its jurisdiction arises.

I wonder if there is a provision in the CA Constitution that allows for unconstitutional judgments to be voided, or for the California legislature to remove judicial review/jurisdiction from the court.

Not very likely though, given that the CA Supremes ruled in favour of granting marriage to LGBTs in the first place… and by reviewing this case - if it goes unchallenged should it choose to overturn a CONSTITUTIONAL referendum - the will of the people - it will heap to itself enormous powers, a precedent that other courts will be very quick to observe.

I guess we shall see in about 90 days whether or not that Court upholds its own state constitution, in spite of its own views on the subject matter of the case.

In light of how Obama and his fellow socialists/tax-evaders in Congress are doing such a bang-up job of shipwrecking our nation…

I thought it might be appropriate to change my flag image on the right to the recognized “signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property” per Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10 § 176(a).

I make this change under the firm conviction that We, the People, have erred grievously in choosing this very flawed individual, President Barrack Hussein Obama, along with so many of his extreme far-left fellow party members in Congress.

These men and women who decry individual liberties and small government, and ignore the facts history teaches us about government over-meddling with the economy… whose desire to return to the horrendous, bankrupting policies of LBJ’s Great Society with a not-very subtle twist toward “reparations” with the tossing of even more federal funds to various social and corporate welfare projects (regrettably, a trend cheered and signed by his predecessor, former President Bush).

The distress flag shall remain until We the People, have finally awoken from the stupor of unbridled Socialism, and once again returned to the principles of fiscal conservatism, and laissez-faire governance that marked our ascendancy in the 20th century.

Until then… as former NYC Mayor Ed Koch said concerning his loss of the mayoralty to David Dinkins:

“The people have decided… and now the people must be punished.”
