Having signed up to almost all the Republican presidential candidates (except the last two standing, McCain and Huckabee) I get this in from Dr. Paul’s mailing list:

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans — and friends in many other countries — have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties — just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

So, that pretty means means that Ron Paul is moving his focus to his Texas-14 congressional district race, and hopefully some if not all of the amazing cash cow he generated will be movable to his TX-14CD fund.

I was initially against the populist approach that seemed to be the hallmark of Dr. Paul’s politics, as well as the connection to conspiracy theorism and much of the moonbat fringe (9-11 Truthers as well as some of the far left anti-war movement), yet recently I have come to acknowledge that Dr. Paul’s central message was about retaining our freedoms and liberties which are documented in our national Constitution, and that the central fight is to make sure that the US Constitution stays as both the de facto and de jure law of our land.

Therefore, I both endorse and wish Dr. Paul well in his run for TX-14, and for the continued awakening of the American people to the horrors that we may face as we are courted and seduced by the siren calls of socialism from the Democrats, and a return to the rock-solid conservative, small-government republican ideals of Coolidge, Goldwater, and Reagan.

And I apologize for misunderstanding where you were coming from. I hope that the spirit of your revolution, which is a peaceful one, awakens every man and woman who can proudly call themselves by the name “American” to call with an ever louder voice for a return to fiscally responsible, federalist-modeled Constitutionally compliant, small government accountable to the people… yes, that we increase in our desire and demand for this, just as the Founding Fathers did when they gave so much to bring us liberty and freedom over 230 years ago.

We can do this by going to the polls in November and electing the “down-ticket” conservatives, that is, the local, state, and congressional disctrict and Senate candidates who will hear our call. So go - learn who is out there running and willing to get the job done and support them just as you’ve seen Dr. Paul’s supporters strive on his behalf - caucus, vote, and tell others to do the same.

A certain other presidential contender tells us that we can make a difference and that it is about “change”. This is true. What we need to do is start close to home, change our own attitudes and then tell the Washington D.C. Republican party establishment - we want a change back to proven, conservative principles that work.
