Dead is Fred? (Extended Version)
Time to face reality, I guess…
with Fred coming in at a very weak third place in the SC primary tonight, this does not bode well for the Thompson campaign in the Ol’ Deep South.
I must admit that I have been swept away with a fair amount of “Fred Fever”, and while that may pale in comparison with the dogged determination of the Ronulans, whose candidate stands even less of a prayer as Fred’s, I must amit that I was hoping for something of a miracle in SC last night (frame of reference check: I have been visiting relatives in Japan with the family for the past 10 or so days, so my understanding of USA time is a little off).
With my ability to skulk the webs with the relentless skulkiness I normally have at my disposal has been greatly reduced… (WiFi access in Kobe is quite shockingly lacking) I’ve been trying to glean the results from Japanese-language news which ain’t easy given how badly my Japanese has lapsed in the past few years.
As I mentioned in the first edition of this post, I will have to begin re-thinking which of the remaining less than desirable candidates I may end up supporting.
This is not easy for me, as it means I will now have to eat some crow as well as the bitter herbs of reality - that is, the fact that America is roundly rejecting Reagan conservatism as can be reflected in either Fred or Duncan Hunter (withdrew today) - leaving my choice to the remaining RINOs who lack in one or many key areas.
As things stand, Romney has been my very distant second choice now, and now looks more certain to be my most rational and safe chance when it comes my turn to go to the polls on Tsunami Tuesday.
It really pains me to have to come to this point.
More later, prolly when I get back to the USA.
