Monkey see, monkey do: According to the leading scientists, and the consortium of (mostly very liberal) professional teaching establishment - we are all monkey spawn, and a freakish, if not perhaps a ridiculously unlikely, accident of chemistry and luck which gave rise to our remote ancestral strains of bacteria and/or other sea slimes that arose from chains of amino acids billions of years ago.
Not quite as uplifting or inspiring as being created by a personal God who has a special plan for you and I both, is it? Yet I will contend that both ideas are derived from a theological basis - which can neither be proven nor disproven with absolute certainty.
Both positions require a large dose of faith to cover the gaps where evidence; both positions fail to provide a solid answer, UNLESS a healthy dose of belief in the more unlikely parts of the positions are held…
Both positions have compelling arguments, and at least one (evolution) has a consistent system of peer review and scientific method to ensure the “accuracy” of its claims. Naturally, this system may well act in the interests of preserving evolution’s current primacy in the halls of academia. This peer review is based upon feeble, mortal, sinful men and women checking each others’ works. Again, not a bad thing: even the Bible agrees that two are better than one, and a cord of three strands is not easily broken.
A cord is only as strong as those who make it, and the fibres that comprise it. No matter how much peer-review goes into a theory – until some irrefutable proof comes along, evolution is still just a theory, and one contrived by mere mortals whose window on time is quit finite. A vapour, as it were.
On the other hand, creationism/intelligent design acts to challenge the other based upon its appeal to find God in a system that is inherently godless, and seeks to exalt God’s omni-intelligence over the far weaker, and certainly far more foolish, natural, earthly wisdom of Man. There’s no need for peer review when it comes to God’s word, for He is without peer. However, we can observe with our finite senses what God has done, and see that it does bear witness to His power and might.
Creationism and ID lack the wide-spread acceptance, and certainly the “authority” that the Darwinists have imputed to evolution - going so far as to even drop the term “the theory“nothing but mammals… like on the Discovery Channel”.
How completely depressing… and how insulting to both God and Man. It goes without saying that Darwinism seeks to dethrone God. At face value, the Darwinist outlook dictates that we are mere beasts… animals… without much hope. And, to some extent (but for different reasons) this is quite true. Take us away from our creature comforts, our economy, our self-imposed order that we cling to to escape our beastly tendencies, and we do become very dangerous, intelligent animals. But still, animals. One need not look far to find examples. And if indeed we are become like beasts, it is not because we were created that way, much less risen up from blobs of goo that live solely for greed and sexual lust (as a means to ostensibly continue the race)
Our path to beastly behaviours is clearly paved in the oft-referenced “Roman Road” of scriptures, in particular Romans 1:18-36, in which Paul provides God’s insight as to how He deals with people who reject Him: He gives them up into their folly and sin. Idolatry. Murders. Uncontrolled lusts for strange flesh. Exalting filthy animals and created things above their most Holy Creator. And lastly, receiving in their persons the penalty of their conduct, be it the sufferings of war or sexually transmitted diseases.
Ever wondered why a supposedly loving God permits great injustice to unfold in this world? A big part of it is the wages of sin unfolding in our midst. It is much more the play of cause and effect of man’s rebellion against God than it is the workings of His direct wrath.
Each age seems to have at least one, if not many antichrists – deceivers – false messiahs, spawned from that Father of Lies, whose greatest work is to keep people from believing in, and embracing Jesus, the Lamb of God.
The 19th century brought us a few contenders for the throne of our modern antichrist… one such exemplar is Charles Darwin.
He is very much the Mohammad of the Atheist set: I am wondering if we are but a generation from venerating Darwin and Secular Humanism with a refrain such as the Islamists use “there is no god but Allah, and Mohammad is his prophet”:
There is(are) no deity(ies) at all, but there is Humanism - Darwin and Dawkins (rationality be upon them, and science be praised!) are its prophets!
Hopefully, we will never see the day when people’s heads are separated from their necks on account of this guy.

Faith? I like the concept. Somewhat noble.
Thanks for the visit.
